Page County Crime News Sources
Go to official sources first, then media. The Page County Sheriff's Office, under Sheriff Chad W. Cubbage, runs the county's main public channels, including its official Facebook account. A post there can confirm an agency announcement or the date of an incident. Keep in mind, though, that the Sheriff's site offers no press-release archive, booking feed, or photo gallery. One post is not a full record.
Town police matter too. The Luray Police Facebook account posts its own updates, and Shenandoah or Stanley incidents may appear through those town agencies before regional outlets pick them up. Social posts get edited or deleted without warning. So write down the agency, the date, the location, and the exact name spelling before you chase the paper trail further.
Page County News Outlet Map
Each outlet below plays a different role. Official entries establish the agency behind a report. News entries provide editorial coverage of what happened. Third-party sites come last. They sit outside the official system, can go stale, and cannot tell you current custody or how a case ended.
| Outlet or source | Coverage | Photos and record limits | Where |
|---|---|---|---|
| Page County Sheriff's Office | Official agency information and public updates. | No verified standing press archive, booking feed, roster, or gallery. | Official website and Facebook updates |
| Luray Police | Official city updates for Luray matters. | Posts may include agency material but are not an ongoing custody record. | Official Facebook updates |
| Page Valley News | Current countywide hyperlocal reporting, including Sheriff releases, incidents, and court matters. | Story-specific editorial or agency-provided images, not a mugshot list. | County category |
| WHSV-TV3 | Regional Page County topic coverage of incidents, public safety, and court news. | May use agency-provided imagery on an individual story basis, not as a roster. | Page County topic |
| Shen-Valley Times | Individual Page court and arrest stories, sometimes subscription-gated. | No dedicated crime category or blotter was found. | Article-based outlet |
| Rocktown Now | Occasional individual Luray or regional public-safety stories. | Not a verified Page County arrest feed; reported images may be attributed to police social posts. | Example Luray story |
| Page News and Courier | Historical context only. | The former weekly is not a current route after the reported Luray office closure. | Closure report |
| BustedNewspaper | Unofficial county-labeled Page section. | Visible entries were from 2017, so it is historical rather than a current Page feed. | Page section |
| Mugshots.com | Unofficial Page County archive with city links. | Checked records were heterogeneous and dated 2013-2017, not a current roster. | Page County section |
| RSW Mugshots.zone | Unofficial regional jail page that can incidentally name Page-related agencies. | Regional, not Page-only. Do not treat it as a county custody authority. | Regional page |
RecentlyBooked has no verified Page County section, and a Page address that looks plausible returns an error. A Virginia landing page is not the same as local coverage. Arrests.org also lacks a confirmed Page-local URL. Neither gap tells you anything about actual county records.
Page County News Follows Releases
Page Valley News and WHSV both index Page County coverage. The catch is that it runs story by story, not as a log. Many of their reports trace back to a Sheriff or police social-media release. That makes the articles handy for pinning down a date, the agency involved, and what police said at the time. Neither outlet works as a searchable arrest log. Neither maintains a standing local mugshot page either.
For countywide hyperlocal coverage, the Page Valley News County category is the best first stop. Its dated stories cover court indictments, Sheriff releases, and other law-enforcement incidents across Page County.
That category page is editorial news, plain and simple. It is not an official Page County booking interface. When a story names its agency source, keep that attribution intact and use it to route your request to the right public office.
Page County Booking Photos in News
Virginia treats booking photos differently than websites do. Under Va. Code ยง 2.2-3706, an adult's routine intake photo must generally be released on request, unless a felony-investigation exception in the statute applies. Nothing in that rule forces Page County to post booking photographs online, and no official county photo gallery or roster exists.
Newspapers take their own approach. They may run story-specific images or photos credited to an agency release, which is editorial practice rather than a jail roster. One photo in one article tells you nothing about later charges or custody status. For an adult booking record the county jail holds, the route is the Sheriff's FOIA process, not a call to the newsroom.
Match a Page County Story to Records
The best follow-up moves from the story to the office responsible for it. Page County has no official web booking feed to search. That makes the agency name and date even more valuable. The paths below keep local custody, a municipal incident file, and court status in separate lanes.
- Save the story's reported arresting agency, date, county, location, and the name spelling used. Treat each as a lead, not proof of a charge or identity.
- For a Luray, Shenandoah, or Stanley police report, make a narrow records request to that town or police department. For Page County Jail booking material, use the Page County Sheriff's Office FOIA route.
- Use OCIS to look for a public case, hearing, or status entry. The Page court or clerk can provide the next official court contact when needed.
- Use the jail contact or Virginia Jail VINE only for custody-status questions. Use VADOC only when the person is in the separate state-custody system.
- Follow the court disposition rather than repeating the first charge. A sealing order, dismissal, or other case result changes the context of the earlier report.
The countywide booking-record and arrest-feed routes lay out the Sheriff's FOIA fallback, explain why no public local roster exists, and sort out the separate roles of VINE and VADOC.
Page County Court Signals by Town
Page General District Court posts Thursday criminal and traffic proceedings. Entries appear for Luray, Shenandoah, and Stanley. A scheduled appearance can be the first court signal after an arrest report. It does not prove anyone is in custody or that a warrant is active.
The Page General District Court sits at 116 South Court Street, Suite B, in Luray. The clerk line is 540-743-5705. OCIS lets the public search by name, case number, or hearing date. Circuit Court matters go to Suite A at the same address, reachable at 540-743-4064. Court files hold the outcome that neither news reporting nor a booking record can give you.
Note: Court cases, jail-status questions, and warrant checks each run through separate official channels, even for the same reported incident.
Page County Unofficial Source Caveats
Third-party mugshot sites paint a partial picture of Page County. BustedNewspaper's checked entries dated only to September and October of 2017, while Mugshots.com carried year filters spanning 2013 through 2017 and a scattered mix of detail, some entries showing "No Mugshot Available." Gaps that old cannot answer a question about who is in custody right now or where a case stands.
RSW Mugshots.zone sits in its own category. It serves a regional jail rather than Page County alone, so a Page-related agency name in an entry does not make it a county booking feed. Fresh-looking dates there prove little. When a third-party site looks wrong or skips later court action, go to the agency and the court for documentation, and use the publisher's stated correction contact if needed. Skip paid middlemen entirely.
Page County City News Leads
News coverage touches all three incorporated towns. It just doesn't arrive in tidy town-by-town form. Page Valley News and WHSV treat Luray, Shenandoah, and Stanley stories as countywide events. Shen-Valley Times runs individual Page pieces, including Luray and Sheriff-release reporting. Rocktown Now occasionally carries a Luray story too. None of them stands in for the town's actual record custodian.
Start with one question: which agency wrote the report? Each town keeps its own municipal records route. Anything tied to Page County Jail belongs with PCSO. The sidebar's city links point to those separate local paths. A story that begins with a town police post may well end in a Page court record rather than a running news thread.
